Crossed (Matched #2) – Ally Condie

Synopsis:

The Society chooses everything.

The books you read.
The music you listen to.
The person you love.

Yet for Cassia the rules have changed. Ky has been taken and she will sacrifice everything to find him.

And when Cassia discovers Ky has escaped to the wild frontiers beyond the Society there is hope.

But on the edge of society nothing is as it seems…

A rebellion is rising.

And a tangled web of lies and double-crosses could destroy everything.

Review:

The second installment of this series was sooo much better than the first.  I am so glad I decided to continue reading.  The character development was much better in this one.  The only downside, in my opinion, was there was very little passion between “Cassia” and “Ky”.  I wish there had been more feeling.  The layout of this book took a little getting used to but it wasn’t too hard.  Each chapter is from a different persons point of view so you get every side of the story, which has it’s benefits.

This book was a very easy read.  I believe I had it finished in 2 days.

These books are like a VERY toned down and not so dangerous Hunger Games.  I understand the threat that they face but, at least to me, it didn’t feel like it was imminent.  The stakes could’ve probably been higher.

I did enjoy the overall story.  The characters are very different from each other even though they have all been raised in this extremely controlled world.

Recommended for pre-teens and teens…no language to speak of, no sex
